Coach

Avadhut Parulekar is a Certified Regional Badminton Coach and joined Edison Badminton in 2018. His accomplishments include:

  • 20 years' experience playing badminton, with a focus on singles
  • Played Provincials in India, and won several district tournaments, including a few recent corporate tournaments
  • University Badminton team captain
  • NCCP Certified Regional Coach

Andrew Smith

Greg Bury

Greg Bury is a Canadian Master's champion who has been coaching badminton for over 10 years. His accomplishments include:

  • Junior National champion in mixed doubles
  • Represented Canada in the 2005 World Championships
  • Multiple Canadian Master's wins, including doubles and mixed doubles
  • Physical Education degree from University of Manitoba
  • Fully certified regional, provincial and competition development coach

Andrew Smith is an elite badminton coach and former Olympic athlete with over 20 years of professional playing experience and nearly a decade of high-performance coaching expertise. A former UK number one and world number eleven in men’s singles, he proudly represented Team GB at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

After his competitive career, Andrew has coached at the highest levels across Europe and Canada — from leading the Swedish National Team to establishing Smith Badminton Academy, and coaching in both Toronto and Edmonton. His athletes have achieved international titles, podium finishes at European Championships, and success on the world stage.

Andrew is committed to developing the next generation of players through innovative training, personalized athlete pathways, and a proven record of producing champions.

  • High school Physical education teacher
